{Fashion Feature} Skip Fashion Exchange

As I mentioned in my previous post, I recently attended the Skip Fashion Exchange with a few of my blogger friends. Before I get into the details let me just say, it was such a fantastic event and I had the best time! Thank you Fawn for inviting me.

Guests were asked to bring along three items, either clothing or accessories, that they no longer wear or like. The golden rule however was that the items you bring to exchange should be things that you would be willing to gift to a friend. Upon entering the exquisitely decorated venue, the items we brought along were evaluated and categorised according to their quality. How your item is categorised determines the colour sticker you receive per item which is then your cash for the evening. For example, with a blue sticker you could take home an item marked with a blue sticker.

After comparing stickers and mingling in the foyer we were treated to the most delicious three course sit down dinner. Honestly, the food was heaven on earth. Between courses we were entertained by the MC Bonang Matheba, we heard about all the upcoming fashion trends from the Expresso Show’s Alexis Chaffe and were serenaded by Lloyd Cele. We were also introduced to the Princess Project which you can read more about here. Skip will donate R500 to this cause for every share this video gets.

And then it was time to shop. Within seconds the designated shopping area was overrun with fashion-dazed ladies running around frantically clutching piles of clothes. My fellow bloggers and I made sure we were first in line and really scored some fantastic pieces. I took home a cream Forever New gilet, a pair of Sissy boy jeans, a pair of Aldo heels and some bracelets. My purchases were beautifully wrapped for me and placed in my goodie bag containing a bottle of Skip. Ever since then, I have only washed my clothes with Skip and they smell so yummy – I am converted.

Overall it was an evening filled with fashion, good food and great company. I definitely want to attend the next one. Thank you Skip for an amazing event!

So impressed with the Princess Project initiative. Such a great example of a brand that is clever about leveraging good publicity.
