The Jo Malone brand is the culmination of simplicity meets luxury. A visit to a Jo Malone store is one that needs to be experienced. Firstly, your senses are taken on a journey through the brand’s vast assortment of delightful scents to discover your signature scent or combination of scents. The scent you desire is not necessarily exclusively available as a cologne; other products include bath oils, body lotions, room sprays, candles and many more. After you have selected your purchase, you witness the art of gift wrapping. The products are placed in beautiful sturdy boxes, tied with a perfectly constructed bow and the tissue paper that is placed in the carry bag is spritzed with scent. If you have some time, you can also sit down and enjoy a complimentary hand and arm massage. I mean! You can’t but help have a spring in your step when you leave a Jo Malone store – it is such a spoil.
The two Jo Malone scents that I am most fond of are English Pear & Freesia and Peony & Blush Suede. In this post, I am reviewing the former. It is described on the website as follows:
“The essence of autumn. The sensuous freshness of just-ripe pears is wrapped in a bouquet of white freesias, and mellowed by amber, patchouli and woods. Luscious and golden.”
Although this fragrance is associated with Autumn – it is light, fresh and clean. There is nothing strong, musky, woody or pronounced in the undertones. It is a distinctively fruity fragrance with lovely soft floral notes that whisper in the background. My only criticism of this cologne is that I wish the scent lingered for longer. Other than that, it is like the scent was made for me – I can’t sniff at it enough! So much so that I also purchased the English Pear & Freesia room spray.
The colognes are available in 30ml (as pictured) and 100ml ranging from R700 – R1300. Discover a piece of the Jo Malone world here.
